You have captured everything about writing so perfectly! The fears, the joys, the heartaches, the struggle, the thrill. I especially loved the part when you compared writing to gathering bruised fruit. How true, we cannot neglect our writer's soul and expect to just gather words when we wish for money's sake. We must tend the tree and water it, too.
Well said! My 'writing tree' flourishes when I nourish its roots in the form of rest and appreciating life fully. Thank you so much for your comments here Jennie, I truly look forward to them!
You asked which Selkie Grove letter I like the best? Impossible to answer that because each one has magic, wonder and beauty. Each one seems to strike a chord and resonates for days. Really not sure I could suggest a topic because for me, I truly enjoy reading what's on your mind or heart at this moment. If really pressed for a topic or idea, I guess it would be to ask if writing has broadened your view of the world and appreciation of the beauty and magic in it or have you always had that view and are trying to show it to your readers? In other words, has writing changed your life outlook or altered your personality?
Thank you for your detailed reply, Wayne. My brain is already abuzz with ideas from your suggestion! I'd love to answer it fully in an upcoming letter.
I know I've asked this question a few times lately. Sometimes it's nice to hear that readers enjoy the letters as they are and that I should keep going and see where the path leads :)
This - ahh this “Writing feels like perfumed poems pressed to my breast. Tender notes to self, carried in my pocket like lucky charms. A gift for a friend.” 🥰🥰🥰 🍀 📝 💝
Congratulations on reaching that milestone how fantastic! I enjoy all your newsletters, so I would be tempted to say go where intuition takes you and I imagine us readers will merrily follow.
Every word you wrote, yes. Especially the part about not thinking it's that big of a deal until you set it aside. Writing is the easiest and most difficult thing in my life and your words captured the experience perfectly. Cheers :)
I adore this😍 I was on a video call with a friend today and we were talking about how the need to write can be so powerful, and I mentioned how you'd put on your story that writing can feel like an exorcism. We agreed it does!😂 Then I read out this post to her and she said it was beautiful ❤️
Katie, I have a big smile on my face picturing you reading this letter to your friend! And I'm chuckling away about writing feeling like an exorcism - YES! I'm sure my urge to write comes from all the unexpressed words and feelings I've stored up.
Many thanks to you & your friend for making my Tuesday 🥰

To me, writing feels like freedom.
The way you paint with words is absolutely beautiful. Loved this one. 🤍🥀
Thank you Kayla! I feel a sense of liberation when writing in my diary <3
Of course! Same here! 🤗
It is like freedom, I agree!
Yay! 😊

Thank you for your comment Claire, I'm glad the words resonate!
Of all your wonderful evocations of what writing is, 'stubborn' really hit it for me.
My writing has been particularly stubborn all week! And thank you for the kind words.
What a gorgeous piece of writing, thank you
Thank you Nelly ❤️
