For me, daydreaming is like having a retreat centre in my head to visit for rest and restoration.

I love the way you used the motif from fairy tales of the hidden heart of the giant/wizard etc! It's such a magical, mysterious motif.

Never considered daydreams as being like retreat centres, how peaceful!

I've not heard of the hidden giant/wizard heart motif, so any reference was coincidental - obviously those old tales are ingrained deep.

Ingrained very deep! There's a similar passage in the Scottish tale The Sea-Maiden (Celtic Fairy Tales, Joseph Jacobs) though it's the sea maiden's soul, not heart.

My daydreams plague me most at night when I'm trying to slip into sleep and escape to real dreams. My mind never stops trying to take me to places that it wants me to be, whether it's somewhere in fantasy land or a successful day in the future. During the day, especially during a long car ride or some boring task like washing the dishes, I welcome them and all their distractions. But at night, I just want some peace!

Oh, I can relate to dreams keeping me awake! Even the pleasant ones stir up my brain and heart and make sleep impossible.

Your writing is absolutely beautiful; it put me right into a peaceful daydream!

I daydream so often sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s reality and what’s not. It’s also a symptom of being a Pisces. 😅 I never really thought about what type they are, but I think they’d lean more toward manifestation as they tend to run in the same circles--traveling, living in a quiet home, writing all day, etc.

Our daydreams sound very similar 😊 I think my moon in Scorpio is responsible for my secretive daydreams!

Ooh, that’s a good placement! Mine’s in Aries so it’s definitely an internal conflict between daydreaming and *trying* to be realistic. 😹

I admit it’s the part of me no one sees that I cherish the most. A core identity that remains unknown and untouched. Within the hallowed privacy of my imagination, it’s possible to live the impossible, but often it’s in this fantasy world that I allow myself to feel the simplest of possibilities until I ache.

Wow! Love that very much and I feel that those words fit my way of thinking perfectly. Sometimes those daydreams are an escape and outlet for a current frustration. More often they are a wishful manifesting because they serve to motivate me and get me started on a path of action to "Make" whatever the daydream is come true. A great example is daydreaming about owning a boat and learning to sail on the ocean. Took some time and effort but now on my second sailboat and sail frequently off the coast of California.

Yes! I love that daydreaming led you to not one sailboat, but two! That must feel so peaceful out on the ocean.
